Ideas needed for 3 weeks in Hawaii

We plan to take the kids age 9 and 7 to Hawaii in April for 3 weeks. We loved Kauai - beach hopping, waterfall viewing, river kayaking, hiking, etc..but wondering if we should try another destination with the kids.

Hope to find an affordable 2b2b condo with pool, WD...near or on a nice beach. We will spend most of our time packing picnics and exploring during the day and eating in at night.

Ideas?

I'm thinking you might want to try the other end of the island chain and go to the Big Island. Then you can show your kids the volcano, do the Mauna Kea observatory thing, etc. But what is "affordable?"

Oahu is very kid friendly. More to see & do on Oahu than any other island.

Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands:

I'm not against returning to places I've been before and enjoyed. So I might go back to Kauai since you loved it, already know your way around, and assuming you know reasonable rentals there.

But Oahu, Maui, and Big Island all also would accomodate your plans and vacation style. Each has unique things to offer.

We have found condos thru this site www.vrbo.com. Price and location range, you just have to look for that perfect place.

On Kauai we stayed at Kauai Beach Villas in Lihue and we were pleased with the central location, price, beach front, air conditioning (not all condos on Kauai have air), and that beloved washer dryer.

We have been to Hawaii 10 times and will retire to Kauai or the Big Island.

For Kauai try www.suite-paradise.com we stayed at Poipu Kai in its Manualoha section (we chose "GdnXdlx" category), about two hundred yards to Poipu Beach Park, Brenneke's etc. Great beach for kids too. Pool a bit small (and perhaps a bit chilly in April).
