Islander Resort

We are planning a 5-day trip to the Keys in mid-March. [Two adults, boys 11 and 13.] Given the short lead time, I am having some difficulty in finding available accommodations. One possibility is the Islander Resort in Islamorada. I understand it was recently renovated. Can anyone give me some comments as to whether this is a good choice? [Islamorada is a choice because we want to spend a couple of days fishing.]

Marj, since there is probably Islander Resorts all over the globe, I suggest reposting with "Islander Resort in Islamorada/Florida Keys".

I haven't stayed there nor am I familiar with the place. What mile marker?

Marj: did you look into Hawk's Cay Resort in nearby Marathon?

I did look at Hawk's Cay and they are booked. As well as The Moorings and Cheeka Lodge. Hence, I'm curious about Islander's Resort.

Marj,
I have made Resv. @ The Islander for July, since I have not stayed there before I searched as you are doing for info eg. thier web site and forums such as Fodors. The best trip reports concerning The Islander are at Tripadvisor.com, check them out if you have concerns.
