keys..which one
thought i had a second post up but can't find it.
here we go again. Key West is out of the uestion for us(me and my girlfirend both 28) We are left with Marathon, Key Largo or Islamorada. We want to go somewhere beautiful and scenic(Carribean like). We want to relax but also want SOME night life. a bar or two and some nice eating will do us fine. I was recommended to Holiday Isle but that looked to much madness going on and a lot of families. So if anywhere else comes up besdie the places I have mentioned please let me know but don't hesitate to support them either. We don't want to be totally secluded either. Thank you very much
Accomodation recommendations would help too.
Again thank you

hmmm.....i'm not a big key largo fan. it's fairly large and as you drive down us1 you will not be able to see the water.....well,..not very often. it is the home of my favorite resturant though (hobo's on the gulf side).
if you're going to the keys go all the way...at least to marathon. not as busy as key west/more tropical than largo. try a "marina view" room at banana bay resort in marathon.

The Banana Bay Resort in Marathon is a great suggestion. Islamorada is also a good choice and has more restaurants and nightlife choices than the other keys (except Key West). The only two accommodations I'm familiar with in Islamorada are the Cheeca Lodge - which attracts lots of families - and the Moorings, which is next door. You might check out its website at
themooringsvillage.com. I agree with the other posters who have steered you away from Key Largo. It's not a very popular vacation destination.

You had two or three posts yesterday, and I responded to one.
To me, a devout Keys lover, Islamorada is a great place, but it offers little in the way of night life. There are some good restaurants there, as there are throughout the Keys. Marathon and Key Largo, though they each offer a few things to some people, are sorta . . . well, scuzzy.
I have stayed at both Marathon and Key Largo, for a variety of reasons. But it wasn't for the extensive selection of good restaurants and nightlife.
Here's a thought: Hawk's Cay Resort. www.hawkscay.com.

I visited Banana Bay this past weekend and it's a beautiful spot. Perfect to watch the sunset as well. Very quiet, though there didn't seem to be much of a beach. Can't comment on the rooms though unfortunately. Marathon has a few bars and good restaurants (7 Mile Cafe I believe it's called has THE BEST breakfast I've ever had, though it might appear to be a dive)

i remember not liking key largo...i was just a kid though. why is key west not an option? it's great! i'm 28, and i think it would be ideal for a little get away. you could rent mopeds, snorkel, shop, plenty of bars, (think jimmy buffet 'margaritaville'?)activities, good food. i can't imagine the prices are all that different in the keys...
