Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg - bring bikes?

We are headed to Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, VA next week and are debating whether or not to bring our bikes. It means purchasing and installing a hitch on our car and borrowing a bike rack. And bringing the car we didn't really want to bring, but that's minor. We know we can rent them, although I'm reading they may not have that many available, but if people bike a lot around the resort I don't want to be kicking myself for not bringing our own. Do people bike around the property much, or just on the trails?

FWIW, we are two adults with a 12 year old and our 11 year old nephew.

Thank you!

I probably wouldn't personally. You will likely be spending much time off the property (Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown, Busch Gdns etc). Maybe rent some one day . . .

Agreed. I live in Williamsburg and our kids spend a lot of time in Kingsmill with their friends. They bike all of the time and it is a great way for kids to move around and feel more independent. You can always rent them.

Yes, people bike a lot on the trails but they are multi use so there are runners, walkers and dog walkers too. The bike trail is a nice 4 mile loop with a spur that goes over to the river. There are a couple of hills on it which is good to remember becaise the Kingsmill rental bikes are single speed. Its a nice little ride through the neighborhood, by the golf course and over a creek It sounds like you're also considering using bikes to get to the pools, restaurants etc which most people do not do. For the most part, the trails don't t lead to those locations and you'd have to go onto the roads. You can't rent the Kingsmill bikes and keep them for your stay, they are for onetime use only. I hope this helps. If you do bring the bikes, I can give you some other ride suggestions. I'm also happy to answer any other Kingsmill or Williamsburg questions you have.
