Laguna Beach or Newport Beach Hotels

Can anyone suggest a hotel that is walking distance to the town and close to the beach in Laguna or Newport Beach? We will be there in July and looking for something under $225/night.

I like this web site for scouting hotels in Laguna Beach. You can see pictures of the rooms, and compare amenities. http://www.lagunabeach.com/hotels.html

You can search by price, historical, and there is a discount "laguna beach dot com price."

Some hotels are less expensive during the week. Others have a big price difference between ocean view and village view rooms.

I have stayed at: Inn at Laguna Beach, Hotel Laguna, Laguna Brisas (Best Western), La Casa del Camino (Historic and a bit farther from town) and Vacation Village (now called something else). They are all pretty nice. The Holiday Inn would also fit into the price category. Most include continental breakfast.

All of those are probably in your price range for non-ocean view rooms.

We just returned from a CA trip and speny a night at the Best Western Newport Beach Inn. It was a block from the beach, was a 5 min drive to shops and upscale restaurants and had several restaurants within a block or two. You should be able to get a rate there within your price range.

The Inn at Laguna Beach looks to have everything that we are looking for. However, based on the price, we would probably end up with a "village view" room. Does anyone know whether these are nice rooms. Are they overlooking the main street?

I think the village view rooms are pretty nice. They overlook Pacific Coast Highway, but seem to have good sound insulation. They are a bit small, but are freshly decorated. I ended up keeping the shutters in my room closed for privacy, so the room can seem a little dark.

The hotel has very nice common outdoor areas, especially a sunny roof deck, so you can have your breakfast served there if you like, and enjoy the ocean views..

The hotel offers fruit and cookies at night, and has free wireless internet. I think you'll like it.

This is probably a picture of a village view room.
