Lake Tahoe from East Coast - which airport

Hi - we are planning a trip to South Lake Tahoe next Labor Day week. Flying from either Boston or Providence. Is there a preferred airport for this trip? Any input on the drives involved would help.

Thanks, Sue

Alohaaa,
Reno used to be a "cheap fly". Still may be.

If not, Sacramento and SoWest Air from Hartford or Providence may work?

LT is about a 2hr drive from Sacto depending on Labor Day traffic and if you go I-80 or Hwy 50!

About 30 mins from Reno.

There is a regular shuttle from Reno Airport to the South Tahoe casino area.

I flew into Reno and drove to South Lake Tahoe from there. As I recall it was about an hour to 1.5 hours.

Oops.
My error. almesq is right.
I was thinking just shooting over to the closest point in Tahoe, like Incline Village where it's about 30-45 mins away.

Usually Sacramento airport, via Southwest Air, is much cheaper to fly into than Reno. But, if you do not arrive a day or so before the Labor Day weekend the traffic from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe can be a bit much. And the drive back to Sacramento on the afternoon of the last day of the holiday weekend can sometimes be horrible so probably Reno would be your best bet.
