Actually, the most recent dinner I had at Tiramisu was really good (last October). And yes, the tiramisu was good that night at Tiramisu - it just must have been an "on" evening for them. The Belden restaurant that I can't really recommend is Cafe 52. I work at a firm which frequently orders catered meals from Cafe 52, and I've always thought the food ranged from so-so to downright tired. I've also had dinner and lunch there as an individual, with the same opinion. Well, to each their own!

Thank you for your advice-it really helped. Plouf was great, Dottie's may be one of the highlights of our San Francisco experience, and was able to get a private tour of Newton from the information gained here. Your good advice certainly made our trip much more memorable!

Last month, dinner for 2 off the fixed price menu with a carafe of house wine at The Stinking Rose in North Beach $65.
Dinner for two at Cafe Bastille, Belden Place with a bottle of wine, shared appetizer and entrees $95.
