living alone in denver...

I currently live in Tucson, AZ and am aching to get out of this wretched heat. I am seriously considering attending college in Denver, if at least for a little change of scenery.

I would not be going to a school that provides housing, which means I would be living on my own. Since I have never even been to denver before, I am wondering if it is a safe place for a single, 25 year old woman. I don't do much of the night life as I am a Christian and don't party or drink.

If I do decide to do this, it would be sometime next year (I'm just trying to decide if I really want to do this). Denver seems like a great city but I'm just concerned with being out there by myself.

Thanks guys! =)

I am topping this in hopes you will get some more input.

While you are waiting, type "Denver move" in the search box above and read a lot of information and opinions regarding a female relocating to Denver.

I have only visited but I enjoyed Denver a lot. A friend of a friend lived near downtown and we loved his older neighborhood of bungalows. As in any city, relative safety depends on the neighborhood you choose.

I am a Christian and I do drink and "party" - although more when I was younger. I would be drawn to Denver for many different reasons. A co-worker attended college in Denver and loves it best of all the places she's lived.

Good advice, thanks. I did find some info on living in Denver, however some was good and some was bad. lol.. i guess that'll be the same for any city, though.

Yes, Denver is a safe place for a single 25 year old woman. Since you have never been to Denver before, I think you should come visit for at least a long weekend.

Although Denver doesn't get the heat of Tucson, it does get hot in the summer - 90s and several days over 100. If you enjoy outdoor activities the mountains are close enough to escape some of that heat.

What kind of activities do you enjoy? What school are you considering?

Don't make this decision without spending some time in Denver.

I do plan on spending some time in Denver when its closer to the time that I would be moving there.

I am interested in going to school for Radiology and there's a Pima Medical Institute there that I am considering. I know it seems silly to go to PMI there when there's one here in Tucson, but I just really want to get away from home right now.

I was out in Durango a few weeks ago and it was pretty hot there too, w/ temps in the mid 90's. But it was nothing compared to how hot it is here. I thought the heat in Durango was a lot more tolerable. We were actually able to be outside and enjoy outside activities whereas in Tucson you can't really venture outside until the sun goes down.

I also thought Denver would be a great place for me to go because of all the things there are to do there. I love outdoor activities, especially anthing that has to do with water. Take me whiteriver rafting any day! I'm not in the best shape right now, and was hoping living in Denver would change that too =)

Thanks again guys!
