LOST post -- and other wierd things

I replied to a post around noon mountain time[2 pm would be what would show on post] to a lady who was thinking about coming out to Santa Fe in October and was interested in hiking and wondered about the weather.

I wrote a fairly lengthy reply, even gave her a link to turquoise trail and now it is nowhere to be found. I cannot remember her name to search.

I tried clicking on my name, but its not there and even stranger, there is a post listed under my name that I never replied to!

Any input?
Debi

Debi, I was responding to a thread last night along with a few others, helping a person who was traveling soon. All of a sudden in the middle of all our posts, a new post appeared out of nowhere and it had nothing to do with the thread. I think Fodor's must be adding a new ad campaign - that's usually when things start getting screwy around here.

DebitNM: I was writing a reply and a thread came up with my screen name as the heading! Strange indeed.

Frustrating to say the least!

It often takes a good deal of time to write a reply and then to have it vanish is really most disheartening.

When the reply box is acting up, I always copy my reply before I hit "POST" knowing it has to be done more than once. But when you see your reply and it's ok,you just kind of think it will still be there for OP to read.

Yes - it's been happening to me for over a week. And the weird part is that it's on the post right after I post it - I double check. but if I look the next day to see what others have said - then it;s missing.

(And the posts are in no way conroversial or inapproriate (no one could get so worked up over taking a train versus a car) - just basic info answering questions - so it's either an editor gone mad - or the Fodor system gremlins again.)

At least I know I am not going crazy...well not on this point anyway!

I thought maybe the thread had been removed...but like nytraveler said...there was nothing inappropriate on it. And it was there immediately after I hit the post link.

Oh well, we can only do what we can do.
Thanks all!
Debi

Debi, I'm glad you posted that the thread in question disappeared. I posted a very generic question about travel we'll be doing soon in the wee hours of Sunday morning, but I have not been able to find it since. I have wracked my brain trying to figure out what could have been offensive about it, thinking it had been deleted, but now I think it just disappeared like the one you are talking about.

Debi, we just never know how many we might be helping by posting what we consider to be strange questions, huh? LoL

DebitNM, I have had the exact same thing happen to me a few times in the past. Sometimes the thread disappears from my list (ie clicking on my name) only to reappear a couple of days later! Even more peculiar. You never know your answer may turn up yet!

Well, I just found the thread! I posted to it earlier than I thought, but it still wasn't showing up. I did a search using word birthday and found it. It's says Halloween Birthday in topic.

But I know I did post later today...and that one isn't showing up! And I can't remember what it was about!! Nothing like having a memory like swiss cheese!
So win one, lose one. <sigh>

I am glad I am not going crazy because this has happened to me as well. There was a post on the subject of road trip rules that disappeared for awhile. I, as well as several others responded to the post recently and it all disappeared. However today, I see that it is back, but all those interim posts are still missing.

I read your reply Debi! That was before it disappeared....

I've had another problem with the board today...clicking on a post and the replies don't appear at all

Weird!

Seriously... (I'll be nice now) ... the gremlins have been very active today. I've e-mailed Fodors - hopefully they're working on it.

Attention All Fodorites:

Please form a single file line for the "LOST & FOUND" Dept. And for your own safety, no pushing and shoving -- you will all have a turn to find what you've lost.

Hey Debit, once in a while a majority of us wishes a post or two would get lost, how come that never happens?

Nice to know I'm not alone.

As the ol' Jimmy Buffet song goes, "If we all weren't crazy, we'd all go insane!" How true is that?!
