Luggage advice: London Fog, Travel Pro, Samsonite or others?

Luggage advice: London Fog, Travel Pro, Samsonite or others?
I am taking Rex's advice and reposting this question with a different title. (Can't I change the title so that the whole thread can stay intact?)
London Fog suitcase is on sale. tried to look up reviews for it and can't find any info. (not even london fog's home/product page)
has anyone used or bought a london fog bag?
otherwise, samsonite vs travelpro? any favourites?
This is my first time that i am travelling for 2 months with only a carry-on...since i am living out of a small box for that time, i want to make sure the box is reliable.

I have a rolling Eagle Creek 22" that I really like. It can convert to a backpack and has a detachable day pack. It's been on 2 Europe trips and several US trips and it like new.
On the last trip Delta did manage to break off one of the legs (outbound of course) so I had to put up with a case that would not stand upright. Hard when traveling solo.
Eagle Creek upheld their lifetime guarantee and repaired the leg for me at no charge. Of course, Delta "was not reponsible for legs or wheels on luggage".

Where are you purchasing from - are there other purchase options that might give you a price break on some additional luggage selections? My BF and I got both of our bags on sale at Macys (store not online). You could also try campmor.com or REI... (these are of course US stores!).
I love my Samsonite but it is heavy. Plusses: very sturdy, and I like the compartment options. It's not a spinner, which I found awkward when I tried one in the store. Look for good wheels, preferably ones that look like rollerblade wheels; they maneuver the best!
My BF *loves* his Victorinox, which is much lighter than my luggage! Like Dayle's Eagle Creek, it can be wheeled or worn as a backpack, with a detachable day pack that locks onto the larger bag (so, for example, they could both be checked and not removed). The bright color is easily recognizable, and it has held up through thick and thin. Speaking from experience, it is a real advantage to have the backpack option (since I do not have that ability with mine!). It has come in use for everything from sprinting through an airport to maneuvering the Paris metro system - and is definitely a benefit when the road surface is uneven or too crowded to wheel a bag!
As an aside, I am currently looking for a good laptop/day bag and I looked first at Eagle Creek; they've always been among my favorites. Their luggage options look great!

Have you seen the pieces in person yet?
If not, that might make your mind up faster.
Some suitcases actually have less room inside than other bags of smaller dimensions.
Some have lots of small pockets for things that could either be of great use or of no use depending on what you're packing.
You may find a lighter piece better suited than a heavier piece; or you may find that one feels more durable to you than the others.
On the brands, I don't think any will be a problem. They are all decent manufacturers.
On the guarantee, IMO, I wouldn't use that to decide. Even with a lifetime guarantee, it's going to be a pain if it breaks during your trip. The guarantee is nice, but when you're sitting at the airport with a broken suitcase, you're still in a fix needing a new piece right now - not once you can contact them.
If not, that might make your mind up faster.

Check ebags.com as they have reviews by users of the various products. I bought my TravelPro years ago as my flight attendant daughter recommended it--has done very well (and I fly Delta regularly!).

Do you remember the old luggage commerical where they showed the baggage handlers as gorillas flinging the bags around and jumping up and down on them? I think those people still work there! And they are able to break just about anything, IF they don't loose it first. You just have to hope for the best.

We bought a huge Travel Pro before we took this trip to Buenos Aires and I really love it. It arrived after 2 flights looking brand new..it held the entire closet plus the bathroom lol.
And it has all sorts of pockets and passport holders etc ..

We have the traavelpro crew 4 and have been traveling with it for 3 + years and nothing has broken. I really like it and find it roomy. I like the fact that if I want to I can expand the suiter but most of the time I don't expand it and use it as a carry-on.

I know they say it in ads and such, but Travelpro really is used by lots of Airline personnel.
I've had good Samsonite luggage in the past. Don't know about London Fog - I won't say that inexpensive things aren't good, sometimes they are. See this set on Amazon and the reviews:

One big consideation iw what kind of use do you intend to give it? If it's one a year or less, you may be able to go cheaper, as it's just going to be stressed less. If you will use the bag regularly, think about construction quality and go for the brand with good customer satisfaction.
My rollaboard is a Hartman, i like it lots, but it was a gift. (And I know it came from an outlet at a good price.) My bigger rolling bag is an Atlantic, and I love it, too. Hard plastic shell case takes a beating.
