Mammoth Lakes during Thanksgiving, should we go?

We have a few days and would love to go to Mammoth Lakes during the Thanksgiving weekend, will it be too crowded? Will we be able to ski during this time? Where to stay/most convenient etc...Please advice. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Hard to predict the skiing, as the weather will determine.

I never skied there that early in the season, but did ski a couple of weeks before Christmas. Watch out for the rocks.

I also skied during the Christmas break. If the Thanksgiving crowds are like that, yuck! But the biggest lines are down near the lodges...it definitely gets better as you go mid mountain. Mammoth is huge, after all.

We stay in a condo in town, instead of up by the slopes. More convenient to restaurants and shops, IMO. If the condo is near a shuttle stop, it's more convenient to the slopes.

All depends on snow...IF an early storm sweeps in and drops good powder, it will be jammed. No snow, a lot feweer tourists. Best condos are near the golf course or near the lifts. The ones in the center of town are older.

We went Thanksgiving one year and lucked out. It snowed all day Thanksgiving. Check out Snowcreek Resort by the golf course. If planning to eat Thanksgiving dinner out, you'll need reservations.
