Maui: best 5-star dining for anniv.dinner

We are staying at Four Seasons Maui, and I know Spago's is there and must be wonderful.Does anyone recommend any other memorable restaurants with 5-star service, food, and atmosphere? We'll probably want to do a few 5-star nights and as well a some casual, fun, nights.
Thanks in advance. We are in our 40's, 10th wedding anniversary...

I would recommend Spago or Nick's Fishmarket (at the Kea Lani) for the anniversary dinner. There have been many posts on Nick's here--do a search to see some reviews. I personally loved it! Also, David Paul's in Lahaina is fantastic. It doesn't have an ocean view (it's a block in from the ocean) but the food is excellent! Try the firecracker shrimp if you like shrimp. Also, Mamma's Fish house is great--it's not fancy, so I wouldn't call it 5 star, but the food is great and the view is wonderful.

Returned last week from Maui honeymoon at the Four Seasons and while we didn't get a chance to eat at Spago's (the nite we were going to, had to cancel last minute), we did eat at Sarento's in Kihei and Mama's Fish House in Paia. I would highly recommend either of them for an anniversary celebration. Sarento's has a fabulous beachfront setting with terrific views of the ocean (go at sunset) while the overall experience of Mama's was something to remember.

Enjoy!

My husband and I had a fabulous stay at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua in Dec (belated honeymoon). The Banyan Tree restaurant at the Ritz made for a memorable and very romantic dinner. It is open air on the ocean (the views of the beautiful blue pacific at Kapalua is breathtaking, especially at sunset). We reserved a corner table right on the ocean. The food is amazing-gourmet pacific cuisine. The Kobe beef appetizer was great!! Very relaxed, intimate atomsphere with a live duo playing Hawaiian/Pacific music. The service was in grand Ritz style-attentive, very friendly and professional.Lit torches surround the restaurant. The beautiful setting and amazing food is worth the $$$ to dine here.Have a great trip!!!

Oh skip the five star one day and go to Cheeseburgers in Paradise in Lahaina. Get a road side second floor table and simply watch the tourists stumble around in the sun (he's 40, he'll enjoy the implants.) Music after 4:30 but be forewarned the Double Trouble is for non-drivers only...

Another big vote for Mama's Fish House. We spent our anniversary there last year and have been several times before. It is not "five star'' as someone said because it's more casual, but we also went to Spago and another Four seasons restaurant that trip and while we loved the food we couldn't beat Mama's for atmosphere and food is great.

I'd vote for Pacific 'O in Lahaina. On the water, at sunset, with sensational food.

Mama's is 5* pricing if nothing else.. for those other outings check Bubba Gump's in Lahaina. I've said it on here before, it was probably the best overall meal value we had last May .. food quality, service, fun, and atmosphere (and we're older than you !)
Have a wonderful trip

We were in Maui a few weeks ago, and we ate out our last night there at a restaurant called Sea House. It's in Napili and is part of the Napili Kai resort. It's open air, sits right above the crescent shaped beach, offers incredible sunset views (make reservations a few days in advance and ask for rail seating a half hour or so before sunset). The food was fabulous, the service great, and atmosphere unbeatable!

You are staying in Wailea. Most of the recommendations are a long transfer (up to an hour). I suggest staying in the Wailea area (Spago, Nick's, Roy's, Longhi's of Wailea, Pacific Cafe. If you go to Nick's do not order steak, it has not been good as of late.

No one has mentioned the SWan Court at the Hyatt yet,a great romantic dinner spot. Also i must dissent on Bubba Gumps, we went once a few years ago when it was new..it was the worst fast chain type food I have ever had. Give me Friday's, Chilli's, applebees(you get the point)any day.

THank you to everyone for your suggestions! Now I do have one concern, especially about Mama's Fish House, which everyone seems to love...is this long drive from Four Seasons Hotel Wailea...and SHOULD WE BE DRIVING AT NIGHT????IS THIS A DANGEROUS DRIVE? I wonder how people try our all these restaurant and NOT drive, but I don't want to put ourselves in danger in the darkness. Thanks!

I would say it's about 35-40 minutes from the Four Seasons to Mama's Fish House. We ate there after doing the Road to Hana. And don't worry at all about the drive...the roads are well lit between Wailea and Paia. Definitely don't let that concern stop you from enjoying one of the nicer dining experiences on the island.

Enjoy!!!!

We stayed at the Four Seasons several weeks ago and ate at an incredible restaurant, The Seawatch, which is about 5 minutes away from the resort. Ask the conceirge to make reservations for you - you'll want to be there for sunset as the views are spectacular. We liked it so much we went back twice. A bit pricey, but very nice and very worth it. Have fun.

The SeaWatch...located in the clubhouse on the Wailea Gold Golf Course... is also great for breakfast or lunch!
Joe's Bar and Grill in Wailea is another place for dinner that has very good food...owned by the same owners as Hal'imaile General Store (great restaurant too).
