"N9ne" at The Palms in Las Vegas - anyone been?
Will be in Las Vegas first week of November. A younger member of our travel clan has suggested we (he and his S.O. are in their late 20's, the other two couples late 40's and late 50's) have dinner at N9ne at The Palms. We are going to be in Las Vegas for quite a few nights (7 nights to be exact!!)therefore we will be eating out ALOT and I don't want to waste money at a restaurant that is really nothing more than a "scene". Has anyone had an experience at N9ne?
We have had many meals in Las Vegas previously: Spago, Postrio, Aureole, Francesca's, Bertolini's. I would like to try some new ones but I'm just not sure about N9ne.
Also, others in the group want to see Celine Dion - I would rather have a root canal!! I'm thinking Mama Mia, Penn & Teller and then a few of the comedy clubs (Comedy Stop at the Tropicana sounds good).
Thanks in advance for your views.

I have been to Nine in Chicago and it is very good but expensive. It does have a great atmosphere in Chicago - not sure about Vegas. I have also seen both Mama Mia and Penn and Teller in Chicago. Both are good but of course very different. I loved Mama Mia.

The Plams is totally "the scene", every inch of the property....I have not eaten at this restaurant, but I can assure you of a high level of disatisfaction the minute you hit the lobby....just being honest!!

So, N9ne is a sort of chain restaurant? - Does it originate in Chicago? I think I was told it is a steakhouse type restaurant?
I was pretty sure that The Palms was a young peoples spot (e.g. loud, crowded, etc., etc.) - thus our friends son wants to go there (and drag the oldsters with him).
Mama Mia is playing in Vancouver, B.C. where we are from and I haven't seen it but everyone I've talked to loved it. Will it likely be as big a production at the Mandalay Bay theatre?
I've seen "O" and "Mystere" and enjoyed both. One of our group has mentioned going to Zumanity (sp.?) - think I'll give it a pass (don't really want to see Cirque de Soleil doing erotica - if that's what its about). Don't I sound like an old crabapple?

Thanks BeachBoi. We have a Morton's Steakhouse here in Vancouver and I haven't been to it (although I wouldn't mind a good steak).
If we do go to N9ne I don't think me and my S.O. will be picking up the tab for the younger couple (it will be his parents who are our good friends ... phew!!).
Approx. 2 years ago the same group of us were in Las Vegas (me, my husband, our good friends and their son (then 27ish). He was staying at The Hard Rock. Our husbands had to do a quickie business fly out to Long Beach one night so us two women went out with the young son for the evening. When we dropped him back at the Hard Rock he said "come up and see my room" - so we trundle up to quickly see his digs and then come right back down - the young fellow doing security at the elevators thought we were "working ladies" - Yikes!!

Boxer-
If you're looking for other upscale restaurants, you might want to look into Aqua, which I believe is in the Bellagio. Las Vegas has wooed a number of prominent restaurants around the country to open up locations in Vegas. So, they're not really chains in the traditional sense; more of a copycat.
Anyway, I haven't been to Vegas in about 8 years, but I have been to the original Aqua in San Francisco many times - it is one of my favorite restaurants. They specialize in seafood. I've heard good things about the Vegas location (I vaguely recall an article in the SF Chronicle). Perhaps someone else has a firsthand review?

I believe there are only 2 N9ne restaurants and Chicago was the first one. I didn't realize they were owned by Morton's. I love that place - but you are right it isn't inexpensive. I think it is much better than Gibson's in Chicago which everyone raves about. We went to Circo at the Bellagio and I thought that was very good, too.
