Napa/Sonoma Sightseeing

This wine country area always looks so pretty and interesting in TV ads, mags, etc. So we thought during our week's stay in SFC we should consider driving up there for a day trip of sightseeing and back. Since we're really not that interested in wine tasting or the business that much, we keep wondering what other type sights might be of interest to visit or experience there. We were just wondering if others who may not be into wine that much found it interesting going there?

Well, I would say that if you have no interest in wine, wine making, or grape growing, you would not really enjoy the area. Sure, there are a few other things to do & see in the area, but for the most part, everything revolves around grapes and wine.

I think you would enjoy it if you simply didn't want to TASTE the wine (I went while pregnant, so I couldn't indulge and still had a great time), but you would need to at least have an interest in seeing how it's made, how grapes are grown, etc. to get much out of a visit.

Just my opinion!

Not sure why you started another thread on the same topic.

The wine country has a lot to offer besides wine. If you like fine restaurants, beautiful scenery, championship golf courses, elegant spas, fine art galleries, natural wonders, California history, or African wildlife viewing, you will not be disappointed if you visit the Napa and Sonoma Wine Country.

Tack that on to a trip to the Northern California Coast and you have one of the most beautiful areas in the United States.

Sorry about the duplicate threads. I seemed to have lost the 1st one, so went ahead and sent another. You two offer two good views. I just think we have to go up and take a look for ourselves since we are that close. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

well, even if you don't have an interest in wine there is much to see and do, especially in Sonoma. I suggest a trip to the Da Rosa Preserve. You will have a 2 hour docent led tour of a fine collection of Bay Area Modern Art.
Venture into the town of Sonoma and poke about the square.
