You mentioned the "Meeting Room Inn", which I'm guessing is the Meeting Street Inn in Charleston. We've stayed there several times and while the rooms aren't huge, it is charming, clean, and in a fantastic location for exploring the Historic District. It is also usually one of the cheapest of the historic district inns/hotels. You might also look at the Andrew Pinckney Inn. It is in a nice location and is usually not ridiculously expensive.

Daniel, the lowest rate I can see on the website at the Vendue is over $400 a night and that's for an interior room with no windows!
starrs, the dates are firm; can't flip-flop.
Embassy Suites is still under consideration. I'm going to call them tomorrow. Also Fulton Lane and Meeting Street Inns.

I was also going to recommend the Planters Inn in Savannah--where we just stayed. However, I see you booked the Cotton Sail. We absolutely loved their rooftop bar in the evenings, so I bet that is a good choice.

Thanks, htt. I'm sure I looked at the Planters Inn in Savannah and it was probably more than we wanted to spend or maybe it was booked.
I'm surprised at how reasonable the Cotton Sail is. I could have gotten us riverview rooms for $215-ish so I splurged and got us riverview with balconies for about $10 more...still WAY under our max budget of $300!
I don't think they mentioned the rooftop bar or showed pics of it but I love that so I'm glad to know about it!
