New York to Niagara Falls via bus tours - a bargain?
I found this website that has incredible rates for a bus tour from New York to Niagara Falls. For instance, this 2-Day Bus Tour (operated by LLTravel, a Chinatown operator):
http://www.ivymedia.com/cgi-bin/tour...ords=&s=Search
is just $99 per person for double occupancy. Has someone been on these tours? Are they legitimate and good? Thanks.

Don't know about a bargain - but also don;t know how much you would see- since it takes about 8 hours on the bus each way.
What hotel does it include? Have you checked it out on tripadvisor?
Does the trip include the Canadian side (where you really need to be)? Have they explained the documentation you will need?

There are a number of questions on TripAdvisor:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/SearchFor...dia&returnTo=/
But no answers as to how good the tour is. This is a 2-day tour, and they arrive in Niagara in the evening, spend the night at a hotel (Travellodge or similar), and then leave Niagara noon of the next day. It's a reasonable amount of time at Niagara I guess.

It's such a waste spending 10+ hours on a bus to stay at a Travelodge or something in Buffalo or Niagara Falls, NY. The Falls is beautiful at night from the Canadian side, and there are at least some places to walk around at night on the Canadian side. Instead, you're just sleeping at a motel probably far away from the Falls.
It's your time, your money, but I wouldn't recommend such a tour.
This type of tour is good if you:
- Only have two days from NYC.
- Must see the Falls before you die.
- And have to do it for the cheapest possible way.

Recent article in Boston Globe about poor safety ratings of 3 Chinatown bus companies operating Boston-NYC. While I suspect the safety checks were in part urged by Greyhound and Trailways, the safety issues noted seemed real (driver training, faulty brakes, too many driver hours, etc.)
I believe LLTravel was one of the companies mentioned, but no longer have the paper - perhaps Boston Globe archives search would have it.

A bargain? Well... you get what you pay for.
I would NOT take this tour. I suggest a budget flight to Buffalo and spending the time saved in Niagra Falls. I also noticed that this tour has you staying on the inferior American side of the falls.
