Does anyone here have experience with the AirTrain system for Newark International Airport?

I'm primarily interested in the amount of time involved, any complications, or better options; I'm travelling from Philadelphia and would prefer not to use the airport limo service (have before....blecchhh!)

Thanks for any info! (I'm trusting that Amtrak will, in fact, be running next week )

"airtain" is really just the monorail from Newark airport than now goes to a nice shiny new train terminal about a mile off the airport premises(previously you would have had to go to the main Newark station and then take a bus to the airport).
I have not made the connection using Amtrak (have used NJ Transit trains) but the connection should be seamless. The station looks like any small station--basically only two tracks, and there are clear signs and announcements telling you which is Amtrak vs. a specific NJ transit train. When you arrive via either, you have to use your train pass to exit through turnstiles to get to the monorail which is about 200 feet away in another section of the terminal(There are uniformed people there to help if you can't figure out the the turnstile!)
The monorails run frequently maybe every 10 minutes or so and go to the parking lots as well as all terminals.

I noticed during off-peak hours, it teads to break, resulting in 15 minute delays. It's also mind numblingly slow. They've got to be able to make a monorail go faster - they're just not allowing it to.

I have used the Air Train a couple of times.
The system is easy to use and I usually go into Penn STation from the Newark Airport. The trip is about $11.
Take the monorail from the airport, purchase your ticket for the train in self service machines and take the escalator down to the train platform.
I like it because for one person it is much more reasonable than a taxi into the city.
The three or four times I used it, I didn't experience any unusual delays.
I counting on using it in a couple of weeks.

A less expensive way to get there would be to take the SEPTA commuter train from Phillie to Trenton, then transfer to a NJT train from there to EWR, PROVIDED you're traveling light.
