One quick question: will we be sorry that we drove from San Francisco to Garberville in one day with the idea of meandering back to Sonoma later in the week?

You do have a bit of a dilemma. Sure you should spend more time in your way up north, more time on your way back south, and more time in Garberville. But that would take a week and you just don't have that much time. Isn't the whole R-T just 4 or 5 days?
