NYC Area Airports - LGA Fewest Delays
The data is in and of the three New York City airports (JFK, EWR, LGA), LaGuardia has the fewest delays.
Newark - 35%
JFK - 33%
LGA - 30%
LGA is the most sensitive to winter weather, however, and cancellations are more common in the winter (6% vs. 4.6% & 4.8%).

LGA has the shortest runways - and they end in Long Island Sound - that's why weather affects it the most. Also - those visiting NYC should note that not all cities have flights to LGA - since it can take only up to midsize jets - not the jumbos (those shorrt runways again).

I'm so surprised. I never have a problem at Newark and I have never, ever flown in or out of Kennedy WITHOUT a problem. And the traffic waiting for you on a Sunday return is a joy. But I guess they can't take that into consideration for this study!

I think these statictics are based on gate arrival and departures. Many who have flown in and out of JFK and LGA can shar stories of endless waits on the tarmac--away from the terminal but going nowhere . . .
