NYC Map

I have our trip all planned and now I want to map it. I am currently using mapquest and getting frustrated with the driving directions showing. I am wondering if there is a site that will let me plot my destinations for walking (not driving), I don't need directions, and I don't want miscellaneous land marks.

I also want on a seperate map, so possibly a 2nd site, for the day we will travel South and will use bus/subway to get to destinations. Starting point is TS.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Vicki

maps.google.com is your friend. You can save destination using the 'my maps' feature - you need a google mail account to do this, but it's free and easy to set up.

Google maps will do walking directions, as well as public transportation for NYC (and other largish cities).

There are laminated maps which I think are called Streetwise and can be found at Barnes & Noble and you can bring eith you.

I assume TS means Times Square and not Tough s---.

You can also use hopstop.com to plot subway trips.

Hopstop.com works for not only subway - but also for bus, taxis and walking. But it just gives directions - no maps. You can get street maps on yahoo maps - you just need the addresses of the 2 locations and to zoom in close enough. The only thing it doesn;t work for is inside parks (which are pedestrian paths rather than roads).

Don't use Mapquest. I can't use Mapquest, it is so inferior to Google maps.

Google Maps labels the subway stops, shows traffic, has street view so you can actually see where you want to go.

Or you could use NYC's map from AAA. A little old fashioned, but it works well and is a very good map.

I second the suggestion for Streetwise maps. They are laminated, compact, and excellent. Since you will probably find yourself walking all over a hand held map might be the simplest way to go!
