Orlando - pool temp in August??
I'm from the northeast and I booked a week vacation in Orlando for the end of August. All I want to do is hang out in the pool the entire day, every day. Am I nuts??
If it's 90-100 degrees, is that too hot to be outside and in the pool? I imagine at some point even the water doesn't cool you off anymore?
I have a week in Margaritaville booked, the pool looks enormous so I thought maybe it would take a looong time to heat up and might be cooler than air temperature. Thoughts?
(Thanks in advance!)

Just be diligent about applying - and reapplying, frequently - sunscreen. The pool water will be somewhat cooler than the air, but you will likely need to seek out shade at intervals. Be sure to drink lots of water, and go easy on the alcohol. We used to spend a lot of time by our pool and weekends at the beach, but as we got older it became less appealing. Also, having some skin cancers removed lessened our desire to sunbathe. Yes, August can be miserably hot. Hot wind, hot rain, steamy and miserable. As a hotel duty manager, I had a number of occasions to respond when guests didn't take proper sun precautions and suffered severe burns, heat exhaustion, and sun stroke. Be aware, and you can have a wonderful vacation by the pool.

Sounds nuts to me, but the idea of spending even a couple hours by a pool doesn't appeal to me.
It should be ok. THe temps will more likely be lower 90s, although you never know (outside). But the water will probably be between 80-85 which should be ok and not quite like a hot tub. Laying around in 95-100 degree heat in the sun sounds horrible to me, but I don't like pools and don't like the sun. I don't think laying around for hours in 100 degrees is even healthy. 90 probably isn't too bad.
What were you doing in JUne? I know they had a heat wave in Vermont, it was up to 99 in Burlington.

I live in Pennsylvania and belong to a swim club with a very BIG pool. It is already too warm in the water to be refreshing to me. I can't imagine what it will be like in Florida in August.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Good decision. It's not the temperature, but rather, the humidity and the lightining. The humdiity in the summer gets intolerable, even in the shade. Also, it rains almost every day during the summer, and when there is lightining, the pools close. The best time to visit is March and April.
