Hello Ajeet - I hope you have a wonderful trip to the states.

But help us out a bit. Suggestions for what???? Have you done any research already? There are fodors mini-guides online for both destinations, and lots of posts here for both as well.

Beyond the basic research, what kind of info are you looking for?

My suggestion would be to spend less days in LA. Why don't you take a trip up the coast to SF and spend a few days there? Even the LA chamber might think 11 days in LA strains the imagination.

I agree with Tandoori Girl. Can't imagine wanting to spend more than 3-4 days in LA. Go north to Santa Barbara, Monterey and San Francisco for a wonderful California visit.

These are all great ideas, but how about San Diego? That's my favorite CA city. I hope you enjoy your visit to the US.

Ajeet: There are many of Californians here on Fodors and all will be able to give you good suggestions. But do give us some more information - what sorts of things do you like? Why did you decide to come to California/Los Angeles?

eleven days is a VERY long time in LA, but if you just meant "southern California" in general, that is different.

so tell us what you enjoy and we can help you . . . . . .

Also, how are you getting from Las Vegas to LA? Are you renting a car? Would you want to incorporate some time driving to see Grand Canyon, or the desert on the way to LA? Yosemite or other National Parks?
Is there a reason you have that 11 days scheduled in LA or do you mean you fly into there and then fly out 11 days later?

Ajeet,

I also agree that 11 days in L.A. is waaayyyy too many. However, with 11 days you could do a very nice coastal trip from San Francisco to L.A. to San Diego, and get a really good feel for California.

If you don't have a car, you could even take the Coast Starlight Express (Amtrak) to each of these destinations and secure other transportation once you're there.

Let us know what your preferences are.

Most of the responses you have received seem to be from Californians. I would like to give a different perspective. Being from the East Coast and having visited California a few times, I would like to second what the others have said about less time in LA. Personally we loved San Diego. We also liked Las Vegas the first time and feel it is worth seeing--once. I might think 4 days is one too many, but that is a personal thing. We enjoyed renting a car from Los Angeles and driving at our leisure down the coast, stopping whenever we wanted to. Unfortunately we haven't been to San Francisco yet, but that is on my short list of places in the U.S. to do. Hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy the U.S.
