Palm Springs - What to do/Feb.March weather also
Hi - We're very seriously thinking of a vacation to the Palm Springs/Desert area for late February/March. We're not into golf but love hiking, sightseeing and relaxing by the pool. Could some of you fill me in as to what "attractions" are nearby and let me know how the weather is that time of year. Thanks very much.

We were in Palm Springs in January and enjoyed the street fair they have downtown on Thursday nights. Entertainment, vendors, etc.--it was fun strolling around after eating dinner. For me (while my husband was unfortunate enough to be in meetings), the best part of the trip was relaxing by the pool and soaking up the 'winter' sun. Really blissful and totally relaxing. We'd love to go back.

My mom lives in Banning, only 10 miles or so from PS, so we go there often.
You picked the two best months of the year to visit weather-wise
My favorite thing to do there is hike up Palm Canyon at the edge of town. It is owned by a local tribe and is one of the most scenic hikes you'll ever make.

Great time to go, hard to beat Palm Desert in Feb/March but you will be too early (most years) for the desert bloom. Take a hike around the 1000 palms oasis. Terrific clear pond at the end. There are other hikes just North of town as well that will take you out and up into the desert. You can arrange a tour of the Wind mills (generators) on the West end of the valley. Take a drive out of Palm Desert on hwy 74 going to the San Bernadino Forest. Lots of turnouts and hiking places as you gain elevation. Great view of the valley and the switchback road that you just drove on. I agree that the PS aerial tram is a fun thing to do but a bit pricey at $30 plus. For something really unusual you should go to Indio to the date gardens and have a date shake! I can't remember the name of the place, and it doesn't look like much from the outside but the shake is a great experience. Ask anybody in the area. You can expect shorts weather and lots of sun!
