Pittsburgh Hotels

Hi, all.

DH has to go to Pittsburgh on business this week. He's never been before and doesn't know the city or its neighborhoods at all. He has appointments in the 15220 and 15222 zip codes, as well as in Bethel Park.

Anybody out there familiar with these areas and their hotels? Many thanks.

hi elle:

15222 is downtown Pittsburgh, Bethel Park is a south suburb of the city, about 10 miles out. Downtown Pittsburgh hotels at 15222 or surroundings are the Marriott Centre City, Hilton Hotel and I believe about 10 blocks away is a Westin William Penn all are within the downtown area.

There is a Holiday Inn Express that is on the South Side of Pittsburgh neighborhood (across the Mongahela River from downtown Pittsburgh) and the Sheraton Station Square on that side of the Mon too.

Staying at any of the hotels I mentioned would be a good choice as there aren't that many hotels around Bethel Park (my great aunt lives there) vs downtown and Bethel is easy to get to via downtown Pittsburgh. 15220, don't know that zip code, if you could get the town I could tell you where its at.

15220 comes up as somewhere around Parkway Center Mall. Your husband has to go all over. There are some motels around there, but I would stay somewhere in downtown if only because the hotels are much nicer. Bethel Park is poorly-served by hotels and motels, so I wouldn't bother.

Of the downtown hotels, I'm a big fan of the Renaissance. Comfortable, well-located and not too expensive. The hotel restaurant, Opus, is disappointing-- way-overworked food-- but the hotel bar is pleasant.

Thanks again. One of these zips (maybe the 52220) comes up as Greentree Road, fwiw, which sounds like it might be near a mall (one of his clients is Benihana, so I'm assuming they're in a location with strip malls, etc. as they are here).

Any restaurant recommendations? Much appreciated.

do a Pittsburgh search here and you'll find lots of info...I thought the other zip was Carnegie..the 15220 one..I'd stay downtown,South Side or Station Square..for things to do..the side walk rolls up about 6 downtown...but south is hopping...Sheraton is Station Sq and is minutes to BP-downtown-Greentree..lots of downtown hotels..Holiday Inn/southside is around stores and restaurants..there is a B&B called MorningGlory Inn on the southside too..and the North side around the stadiums is "the Priory(.com)" that is unique w/bkfst included..good retaurants on that side too along w/the unique Penn Pilsner Brewery...just some ideas..Omni WM Penn downtown along w/the Hilton(old)..Renaissance/Ramada/Marriott across from the Mellon Arena(Penquin hockey team ice-rink)...do a search and get some ideas..if I were hime I'd probably do Station Sq and shoot down the parkway(I-279) to this places..
