Places to stop along I-95? (Roadside Attractions?)
A roadside attraction taking 30-120 minutes, no more than 15 minutes off I-95, and is not a zoo/wildlife refuge etc, preferably located between DC and Jacksonville. Attraction must be enjoyable for 9 yr old girl and her parents & teenage sister.
Any thoughts/comments/suggestions?

I95exitguide.com But having driven Boston-Savannah and then Boston-North Carolina several times/year for past 8 years (kids in college) I am sorry to let you know that from about Richmond, VA thru NC there appears to be not much of interest - and sometimes not even appealing places to get fuel or food.

Actually, agree with Dukey. Since signage starts about 200 miles north, she can read all the stupid signs to pass the time. There is probably no place like it on earth (thankfully). Buy an icecream, some illegal fireworks, fake Mexican food - everyone should stop there once to find out everything that is wrong with this country - but a 9 year old might find it exciting or interesting.

If you are interested in history, there are civil war battlefields with visitor's centers run by the National Park service in Fredricksburg, Petersburg, and Richmond, among others that are just a few minutes off 95 and generally have clean restrooms. Can you tell that DH likes Civil War history and I always need a restroom.

Wow! Well, I'll have to see...we have seen the signs for the battlefields and South of the Border (even the little one thinks it's pretty bad-looking). Right now, it looks like we will just drive straight through. except, well, for stopping to eat and fuel up.

I traveled down I95 a week two weeks ago from Maryland to Orlando and now traveling back up. I can tell you that gas is a little cheaper in Fredericksburg VA, and then it goes up again until you get into Georgia, some parts of Jacksoneville Florida had Cheap Gas. Tybee Island in Savannah, Ga is a nice beach. Also Baboo Garden in Savannah, beautiful tropical trees, flowers and plants. If you are traveling south there are no signs of stink bugs anywhere. If you book hotel reservations online, Travelocity discharged us twice and the bank won't refund the money for 8 days. If you like fast food, try Bojangles, Churches Chicken, KFC Buffet and Zaxby's. we have been bloging our trip you can check it out: www.meafranks.weebly.com
