Provincetown or alternatives for Oz Traveller
Hello again,
I am planning a few relaxing days on the coast next October after my 'leaf peeping' expedition before returning home. I have been to Provincetown before and found it quite relaxing (if somewhat eclectic). However, I have followed some of the recent threads here and there seem to be varying, and quite vociferous, views on the Cape. Would appreciate other suggestions, preferrably on the Cape, for a relaxing few days in mid-October. Thank you in anticipation!

If you want some memorable, quality relaxing days, take the ferry over from the Cape to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard.
Much higher quality of living and lifestyle.
Quieter and more exclusive, especially after 2nd week of October when tourism starts to trail off.

There are fifteen towns on the Cape and each one of them has quiet, relaxing areas as well as busy little villages. Even Provicetown has quiet, relaxing accomodations at its extreme ends. In the West end there is the Provincetown Inn and Lands End Inn. In the East end I like the Sandcastle Resort.
For all towns on the Cape browse through the Cape Cod Times website.
If you have been here before then you should know better than to listen to the few Cape-bashers that stalk this forum. How can 6 million+ visitors per year be wrong?

A lot of complaints about the Cape have to do with the car traffic during the summer months. October is the toward the beginning of the quiet season, so traffic and crowds won't be an issue for you. P'town is my favorite spot on the Cape. Have a great time.
