Radisson Fisherman's Wharf or Union Square Hotel

Hello,

Could you please tell me what would be a nicer/safer/better located hotel for a 3 day visit to SF?

Thank you.

I can only tell you about the Radisson FW. We stayed there and really liked the location. You are right in the middle of the Wharf across the street from Pier 39 that you will take the ferry from to Alcatraz. You're within walking distance to the cable cars and at that time they offered free parking which was great for us as we had a rental. Don't know if they still offer that now.

Hi Nic, I have no idea what you plan on seeing in SF and what your interest are.

I personally always prefer Union Sq versus Fisherman's Wharf.

From Union Sq. there is a lot of public transportation and if you want to visit Fisherman's Wharf you can take the F Line, the streetcars on Market St. around to Fisherman's Wharf.
Or if you love to walk you can walk from Union Sq., through Chinatown (do check out the side streets and Stockton, don't just stay on Grant), through North Beach (maybe lunch in North Beach) and onto Fisherman's Wharf. Perhaps a taxi ride back to Union Sq.

Whatever you decide have a wonderful visit.

You can get hotels in either area at a good discount on Priceline. Check www.biddingfortravel.com before bidding on Priceline.

I really dislike the Fisherman's Wharf area. Union Square is nicer and more convenient to more things.

There are fewer bums hanging around the wharf area.

It's a matter of taste. I by far prefer the Union Square area for a three-day visit.

Put me in the Union Square camp too. It is convinient to the whole city. Fisherman's wharf is ok, but the hotels aren't even really on the water, so you don't have good views or anything.

I agree that it depends on what you're planning to do. Union Square is in the downtown area, so you're real close to a lot more restaurants, shopping, etc. But it's also a lot more congested with both traffic and people. And yes, more bums!
