Any recommendations for a great restaurant in the tri-state area for a special occassion?

Are you looking for a restaurant in the Tri-State area (This to most from this area means NY-NJ-CT) or specifically in the Albany area?

In Tarrytown, the Tarrytown Castle's Equus Restaurant is not to be beat in cuisine, service and setting. http://www.castleonthehudson.com/

Sorry -- I mis-spoke. I meant to say "Capital District", specifically Albany/Schenectady. Thanks for catching my error.

In downtown Schenectady, try Parisi's restaurant. Excellent food. Not sure what type of cuisine you are looking for, but Albany has loads of great restaurants.

In Albany, MacGuire's is very good. It's on the corner of State and Lark Streets.

The Schrimshaw Restaurant at the Desmond Hotel 660 Albany Shaker Rd near the airport & I-87 exit#4. A nice place to stay at as well. I base this recommendation on 2-4 people. If more in your party, ... well- this is not inexpensive. Parisi's is nice, as is Malozzi's in Rotterdam. Good seafood on Wolf Rd at the Real Seafood Co., as well as Jack's Oyster House downtown.
