Hi, I goin to be in December in NY, and I'm looking for a nice restaurant, with live music and good food. Has some suggestions?

Thanks.

We had a great meal and a really fun time dancing at Swing 46. Lively place once the music starts!

Depends on what kind of music you want. For jazz, there are a number of places that have good food.

Knickerbocker Bar and Grill for steak etc. has great jazz on Fri and Sat. nights. Blue Smoke and Blue Water Grill have jazz downstairs. Joe's Pub has good food and music. Dizzy's Coca Cola in the Time Warner building is another venue with good jazz and decent food.

Would Swing46 be a good place to go for a light dinner and dancing after the theatre (so around 10:30, I guess).
Can you just have drinks and nibbles or do you have to have a full course dinner?

I remember people eating dinner at the bar pretty late.

I didn't mean to send that just yet, LOL. I saw people eating at the bar and in the front room. I would call that number and ask. In the music room, dinner is served until the band starts, then they start making tables available for dancers. I am a professional musician. While I appreciate many types of music, so often "jazz" places offer progressive, non-familiar music that you can neither recognize nor dance to. Unless you are a very good listener, I find it tedious after a while. I also find dueling piano bars tedious after a short time, LOL. But this club had a fun band that mixed up the set, an incredible array of dancers, an easygoing crowd and a delicious ahi tuna with excellent service. We had one of our most enjoyable nights of 7 yrs together right here. ( I also played piano with the band, which was a hoot!)
