Safe Hotel in Salt Lake City

Hi:

I'll be spending one night in Salt Lake City this June. I'm female and will be driving alone. Can anyone recommend some nice, safe areas where I might find a decent hotel? I prefer chain hotels like Fairfield Inn or Comfort Inn, and since I'll be alone, I just want to be sure I'm in a good area. Thanks for your help.

Last summer my wife found it necessary to stay overnight in Salt Lake City while I was in the hospital.
She selected Homestead Village, Sugar House property because the price was favorable, the location was covenient to downtown Salt Lake City, and the security seemed to be good. The parking lot was lighted and the rooms had dead bolt locks. Most of the units at Homestead Village have a small cook top, and a few utensils for meals.

Downtown Salt Lake is quite safe. There are several Courtyard by Marriott's but I would choose the one in downtown at 130 West 400 South. There is a Quality Inn City Center that is quite large and also downtown, but my first choice would be Little America, the largest hotel in the city with a variety of rooms, and a good location. Very nice. Reservations outside of Utah for Little America is 1-800-453-9450.

Hi, thanks for the great suggestions, but let me clarify that I don't necessarily need to stay downtown. I'll be on a two day road trip, and Salt Lake will be my only stopover. I plan to arrive late and leave early, so my main concern is finding a good hotel in a safe area, even a suburban area. Thanks again.

Little America is one of our favorite small chains. The Salt Lake City property is in a very safe area and the hotel felt very secure. It's just a few blocks from downtown.
