San Francisco to Yosemite

My husband would like to go and spend a day visiting Yosemite area this week.

We do not know if it is open these days and if it is a good idea.

Please help us

Read down to thread number eight entitled Yosemite next week. Also, I'm sure Yosemite has it's own web site.

Yosemite is a very long day trip from San Francisco.

4 hour drive to and from SF to Yosemite.

With the shorter daylight hours, you would have some part of the drive back in the dark.

"We do not know if it is open these days " Yosemite NP doesn't close - where did you get that idea? Now - the road through YNP over the Sierras is closed. But that has nothing to do w/ Yosemite Valley. Where are you driving from? If in SF or the general Bay area or Sacramento, I personally would not do a day trip at this time of year due to the long drive, short days and rain due this week. But if you can manage an overnight stay - then I'd go for it.

Not in one day from S.F., especially when days are short. Use google maps and check distances for yourself.

If you can make it two days, stay the night at the awesome Ahwanee Lodge

http://www.nationalparkreservations....FQE0xgodxlQisA - get there as early as you can on Day 1 and leave as late as you can on Day 2, and hope for benevolent weather.

WHAT? This park was not on the Governator's list to close due to the lack of funds??
