Santa Barbara - Harbor View Inn

Has anyone stayed at Harbor View Inn recently? I hear they are doing alot of construction and I was able to get a great rate on an ocean view suite. I wanted a garden or mountain suite so that I did not have to spend 415.00 a night but I was told it overlooks the construction. Is it distracting enough that I should look elsewhere?

I posted this same question a week ago as I made reservations for November - I didn't get a response. On another board, I had someone respond that they didn't stay there, but they checked out the place on their trip and thought it looked very nice. When are you going? they told me they would be done with construction by november.

we are going at the beginning of March. I checked on Trip Advisor and someone posted that they stayed there and that the pool room they had was noisy but we have an ocean view and the hotel said we are not near it, but I am just wondering how large the hotel is that we would not be effected. I am looking for another hotel that won't cost me a fortune for a suite (we have a baby with us).

someone else recommended Hotel Santa Barbara to me - it's not on the beach, but looked nice - they have a website.

A definite step down from the luxurious Harbor View Inn would be the Mason Beach Inn...they have 1 bedroom apt-style "suites" that are comfy, in a residential neighborhood about a block and a half from the ocean....nice pool but no ocean view.
