Small hotel in the Stockyards or Sundance Square
I'm going to FW on the 5th of Dec to the 10th. No obligations other then flying down with my new grand daughter and my D-inlaw so they can visit her parents.I'm on my own and want to be in an area that i can walk to some fun restaurants/bars and some shopping in a safe area.

A wide variety of people like Etta's Place, a B&B in downtown FW.
Rich friends rave about the Ashton in downtown FW.
Stockyards opened an Amerisuites last year, but I haven't heard anything about it.
Have fun!

We stayed at Etta's for my 65th Bday and it was ok, but wouldn't stay there again. Really just a nice B&B that happens to be in downtown FW.
The Worthington - old nice big hotel is always good (music at night) but certainly not Boutique style.
Let me ask around - I'll get back here and post other ideas.

I'd stay at The Worthington with the Ashton as second choice. The Worthington is the perfect location for downtown restaurants, bars, movie theatres, Bass Hall performances. There's not really that much shopping in downtown Fort Worth compared to many cities - will you have a car? The museums are close but not within walking distance. Most probably, bus transit could get you there from downtown easily enough. Don't miss the Kimball Art Museum. If you need restaurant recs, I'd be glad to offer...we eat downtown all the time.
