We live on the north shore of Kaua`i -- our humidity in June is low, equal to Po`ipu. You can expect light showers overnight, which keep our pali (mountains) lush and green. And if you're lucky, we'll have at least one night of heavy rain, to gift you with waterfall-viewing when you awake. 8-)

Mosquitos are only an issue from sundown to sunup -- easily remedied by a liberal application of "Off" or something similar.

Have a great visit!

We just got back from Kauai a week ago. We stayed in the Princeville area, but spent most of our time in Hanalei. The humidity was not bad at all. As for mosquitos, we did not see a single one.

We stayed in Poipu last summer. Next time, I would definitely choose Hanalei. There are a few interesting sights in the Poipu area (Spouting Horn, close to Waimea Canyon) and a great beach BUT northern Kauai is so much more representative of the beauty you expect in Kauai, and we were only able to make one trip up there. Everyone says it's no big deal to "run up there" but sometimes traffic and pouring rain make it not so easy. I think it would be great to just be there - to run out and enjoy the waterfalls and rainbows when they occur!

hi! thanks so much for taking the time to give your much needed advice. sounds like our decision will be a no-brainer as hanalei seems the overwhelming favorite. the info on humidity definitely lessens my worries. the mosquitoes i'm convinced will still eat me alive but as long as the view is beautiful, i'll endure.

please feel free to share other favorites in hanalei if you can think of anything. thanks again for the help!
