Suggestions for a scenic drive from New orleans to florida panhandle
Hi there,
I am going to New Orleans for 6 days in April. On one of those days I’d like to take a drive along the gulf since I’ve never seen it before. Any suggestions on places I need to stop? I like to take in the scenery, look at beautiful landscapes, walk around charming little town, we also like live music..jazz, rock, blues. Also any suggestions for yummy restaurants for lunch/dinner or a sweet snack are welcome. We’re planning to leave early morning from new orleans. I will have two other people with me so we can share the driving. I’ve heard apolochicola and st george island are pretty. I think that’s probably as far east as we want to go. Can that be done in a day and drive back to Nola in the eve or should we stay overnight somewhere? Should we stop in Biloxi or Mobile? Thanks in advance!

It takes 6.5 hours to drive to St. George Island, so not really a day trip. You could go to the Audubon Bird Sanctuary on Dauphin Island. They have short trails that go to the lovely beach. It's about 2.5 hours away. En route you could stop off at Ocean Springs, Miss. which has a thriving historic and arts district with more than 100 restaurants in the historic district.
