gotta disagree on south shore...without further info though. do you like casinos? is that what you want to do? if you stay over on north, you are closer to west shore and Sunnyside, Captain Jacks, West Shore Cafe, etc etc etc...AND, it is more calm over on north/west. south is like vegas with a lake...is that what you are looking for though???? i will say both are okay, just need more info about what you want to do and MOST importantly, when are you going?

The reason South Shore is not like Vegas is that there are some really strict building limits in Tahoe. I'm always amazed at how beat up it gets by the snow and snow removal equipment. There are sidewalks in front of the casinos but on the CA side it's hit and miss. Some sidewalk on the lake side now someon the mountain side.
If you are going in the summer the above poster did point out some fun places. Don't forget Garwoods on North Shore for a Wet Woody at happy Hour.
Guess it would be best to know when you are going.

South shore is where you want to be, and it is nothing like "Vegas with a lake!" There are five casinos at Stateline, most with music venues. Embassy Suites next to Harrahs also has a decent club. Also, about a block or two down the street on the right side--upstairs--there is a fun little place, usually with a band. There are a few others along Tahoe Blvd.
But North Shore is dead.
