Clousie, you are so right. This is such a great place but only for those who do not mind climbing upstairs, who don't mind not having shelves for your stuff, who don't mind driving to the chalet and see messy one or two places on a way, who do not mind there is only a shower and you need to learn how to turn a knob to get a hot water and for those who do not mind a long drive to a town. It is such a rustic charming place and the setting is just unreal. If you are a hiker in the area there are many spectacular places to hike and you do not need to use your host to hike on most of them. We stayed there many times and we know what to expect but, as Clousie said, if you expect some level of luxury you need to remember this place is not a posh at all. We simply adore this place.

If we can survive weeks and weeks of no electricity, water, and services . . . with our entire extended family living months now in one house, and grow closer and more understanding, then there is no need to be concerned about us. I know we'll enjoy the rustic solitude of Matt's Valdez cabin. Thanks again!

I wrote the above description because often I see posts here asking about luxurious accommodation in Alaska. The point is we recommended this place to one couple and they just couldn't get use to the stairway. We loved it!
I hope you will love this place as much as we do. We, means my husband and I. You will have an electricity, small refrigerator, tiny stove/oven. Bring your own coffee.
