Campground Virgina1990 - suggested CG west of Zion is named Ferber Resorts.

Zion narrows:
Two versions:
1) Up the river from Temple of Zinawava (spelling) - no problem other than being in the water on slippery rocks
2) Down the river from the east side (Chamberlain Ranch) completely through the narrows - a problem as permits are required and difficult to obtain. Plus, it should be an
overnight trip.

(a) I do not recommend campground east of Zion either.

Hike - Angel's Landing. Trail is exposed to the sun. Start at daylight. Seriously. Also, if your are afraid of heights, the last 500 yards requires that your cling to a chain for safety.

Summer heat = bugs = nasty no-see-ums - A flying blood sucking Devil.

If history is one of your major interests don't know how you can skip Boston, NYC, Philly, Gettysburgh, DC - which have incredible historic sights you just won't find elsewhere.
