Unused airline tickets

Besides using them for wallpaper, is there any use for unused, non-refundable airline tickets? Is there any market for them that would allow one to recoup some of the loss?

I might suggest buying trip cancellation insurance before I'd let an airline keep my money. Humph!

Most airlines will let you pay a $100 change fee and apply the price of the tickets to a new trip within 12 months. I've done it twice with non-refundable tickets on Delta.

Phil, there is a huge market for non-refundable airline tickets. They are going like crazy on E-bay. Not.

If you can't say anything nice, Justine, why say anything at all? He's just asking for some advice. Not your snide remarks.

Do check with your airline and see if you can transfer the value to a new ticket (you will have to pay a change fee - varies by airline).

But xxx, now you are being rude to me telling me to go away. Does this mean you have to go away also?

Wow - get a life Justine. What did you expect with your rude comments. Grow up and get a life. I have been reading these posts for months now and am sick of opinionated snobs and decided for the next few days that I'm going to call them on it. I don't think I am being rude - I think you deserve it. I am very polite to people that deserve it.

Here's another poster who's sick and tired of rude comments like those from Justine.

Check with the airline and see if they can help you.

Thanks lll. Just wish we could get rid of all the mean crap on these forums because it really ruins it.

Why do people believe that the nasty or idiotic posters are adolescent boys? I have one and am familier with his friends and the rude posters here sound nothing like them. They're rude and idiotic adults.

Justine sounds like the little kid whining to her mother (as she stamps her foot), "but Phil's making gross faces so why can't I?"

I guess the answer is that Phil does it so much better than you, dear.

Check with the airline to see if it can be used for future travel - although 2 airlines have recently adopted a use it or lose it policy and I would expect the rest to follow in the coming weeks...

x,

You may think you are familiar with your son and his friends...but ask anyone that has been a 14 year old boy and you will realize that not everything is told to their mother.

Most airlines have a one year maximum usage rule. If the unused ticket is real old, you can't use it at all. Sometimes an airline will give you a voucher for the value of the ticket, less an administrative fee. Won't hurt to ask.
