Using Miles to NYC - Now Trying to Decide Which Airport?
I'm about to book flights for our trip from DFW to NYC next summer using AA miles. At this point we can fly into any of the 3 airports and will be staying at the Embassy Suites in Lower Manhattan.
We (3 adults, 1 child) will be arriving on a Friday around noon and leaving the following Saturday in the late afternoon. I realize that EWR is the closest distance wise, but am thinking of flying into LGA since it is cheaper to pre-book via Dial7.
Now I know $15 each way is not a lot of money, but hey - it is $30 that we can spend somewhere else. Does my reasoning make sense or would it be better/easier to just fly into EWR?
One last question - is it too early to request a Big Apple Greeter for next summer?
Thanks so much!

I generally prefer LGA for domestic flights. If you're taking a car service, then it won't make any difference that it's a bit further to the financial district than to Midtown.
If you have a choice, I'd suggest you look for more central accommodations if you can find something in your price range. It's a very long slog all the way downtown from most of the tourist sites, especially with a child and because there are infinitely fewer dining options down there. (I'm assuming you're staying 8 nights, not just 1 night.) You certainly have plenty of time in case you find a better deal.

Well, generally I would agree with you, Doug, but my husband works for Hilton & we were able to get a suite for $39 per night for 8 nights so we're willing to deal with the hassle of being further away from the sites (and are comfortable using public transportation).

If the flights are perfectly free I would do either LGA - if you're doing a car service - or JFK (if you're doing public transit - but cheper only if you do subway and I woudn't do that with luggage and a small child).

Some moderately priced hotels with suites that are more conveniently located are: Affinia hotels (there a several different ones), Doubletree Suites and the Hotel Avalon.
I also prefer LGA airport but any of them are fine (EWR is probably the priciest for cab/car service). Since price isn't a concern here with airfare, I'd go with the flights with the best schedule.
With 4 people, and 1 being a child, I won't bother with public transportation. I'd take a taxi.
