Utah Vacation
I live in Toronto, Canada and am hoping to take a trip to Utah in the fall. I intend to fly down and rent a car in Utah. I'm going to drive down through the parks (Bryce Canyon, Zion etc) and tent camp. I'm still trying to find a cheap way of getting down there. What is the cheapest way? I heard that flying from Buffalo to Las Vegas is the best way. Are Salt Lake City or Santa Fe cheaper / closer destinations? Any ideas for my trip agenda?
Thanks

Las Vegas is going to be the closest to your destinations with Salt Lake City being a close second. Santa Fe is to far.
Other places to consider, Lake Powell, Scenic Hwy 12, Capitol Reef National Park, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, & Monument Valley in Utah. Canyon de Chelly and Grand Canyon in Arizona.
How much time will you have for this trip?
Check out this web site for information on the places I mentioned.

Las Vegas is the closest place to Zion and Bryce. Other places you could visit in the general area in 7 to 10 days are there North Rim of GR. Canyon.,- Monument Valley and Arches National Park. Car rentals might be cheaper in Las Vegas and air fare as well. Once you decide where the trip will begin suggestions on the itinerary can be made. Also indicate when in the fall you intend making this trip. Date is important since the North RIm usually closes sometime in the fall.

Visiting places mentioned in Utahtea's post if you start in SLC the journey would encompass about 1125 miles. You could visit in this order: Moab (Arches), Monument Valley, North Rim of GR. Canyon, Zion and Bryce before returning to SLC. You could include Lake Powell without adding too much mileage.
From Las Vegas about 1150 miles visiting in this order: Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches, Monument Valley, South Rim Gr. Canyon before returning to LV. You could include Sedona By adding less than 100 miles to the trip.
No backtracking on either route.
