Waikiki- booking condo, what is the beach like near Lewers Street?

Hello! We are looking at several options/locations for renting a condo in Waikiki. It has been a few years since I have been in Waikiki, last time we stayed on Kuhio- Ohana Waikiki West which was a few blocks from the beach. Anyways, one condo we are looking into, is on Lewers Street, "about 100 yards from the beach". Is this section of beach no different from the rest? More or less crowded? I remembered the beach area we went to, was near the police station, and a snack stand, Sheraton near by. Any opinions? Other options for condos are on Kuhio and Ohua. Thanks for your help!

I can't help you with condos but can you tell me what you thought of the Ohana Waikiki West. I am thinking of staying there for 12 nights this coming June. Thanks!

I've never noticed the beach to be any different. Others say that on parts of Waikiki Beach the sand is coarser. But, if you don't like the sand in one area, move 50 yards or so.

Get the condo that you like best. None are more than a few minutes from the beach.

Try this site to compare condos:

www.hawaii-hotels.com Scroll to the bottom and where it says VISIT, click on Oahu condos.

I stayed at the Waikiki Sunset once. It was a nice condo. Waikiki Banyon is near the Sunset. Both in the neighborhood of Ohua St.

Outrigger Waikiki Shore/Castle Waikiki Shore (same condo different names, some rooms are managed by Outrigger, some be Castle)is a condo right on the beach in the same area as Lewers.

Lewers Street is near the Fort deRussy park portion of Waikiki beach. Yes it's the same as the rest of Waikiki as far as I could see.

My brother, SIL and neice stayed at the Ohana Waikiki West twice for 5 days each this Christmas( they went to Hanalei in the middle). They were very pleased for the price. Said it was clean and both their rooms were very large. They did say that they were originally assigned a room next to the elevator and while even bigger, it was noisy. The staff moved them to a nice room immediately when they asked.
