Wailea Restaurants?

We have three nights in the Wailea area of Maui. As an example of the type of restaurant we like best, we love Star Noodle (but probably won't drive to Lahaina just for dinner), and Josselin's in Poipu. We also loved Lahaina Grill but probably won't want anything that fancy (no white tablecloth places, don't want to dress for dinner) on this trip. We're happy to sit at the bar and schmooze with the bartender and other diners. A really terrific burger is always high on the list, but we like all kinds of food. We do have a reservation for one of those nights at Monkeypod (a Merriman restaurant). Any suggestions for the other two nights?

We had a nice lunch at Five Palms last year. http://www.5palmsrestaurant.com/

My in-laws say the food at Longhi's, at The Shops at Wailea, is really good.

The chef who made Star Noodle what it is now has his own restaurant at the Marriott in Wailea: http://www.migrantmaui.com/#about. We've been, and like it, but not as much as we like Star Noodle. Different kind of cuisine.

Humuhumunukunukuapua'a at the Grand Wailea is another possibity. More of a white table cloth place, but we sit in the bar and make a meal from the happy hour and appetizers menus. Have done the same at Five Palms too, and while the food isn't as good there, the sunset's way better.

Gannons (B,L,D) above Wailea on a golf course with panoramic view. Eat in our outdoors.

Kihei is just up Kihei Road. Mostly casual restaurants. Paia Fish Market, Coconut's, Fred's, 808 Deli.

Is Gannons as good as her restaurant in Makawao?

ChiSue, we've had breakfast at Kihei Kaffe - the best! And have had lunch at Paia Fish Market on more than one occasion - love the place.

Face, we're staying at the Marriott, so thanks for that info.

Thanks all.

The Paia Fish Market is new to KIHEI.

Joe Gannon's place in Wailea is gone -- don't know what'll be popping up there now. I haven't eaten at their Makawao restaurant, but the golf course place is a pretty venue with better than average food. It turns into The Red Bar at some hour of the clock.

Five Palms...hit or miss because the management doesn't seem able to keep chefs, but also a beautiful venue, especially the indoor room. Outdoor great for lunch.

Shops At Wailea has several OK spots, and it's just a stroll across the parking lot from Marriott. There's also a Starbucks and the Whalers Gen. Store has a deli amidst the Made In China junk. (Non-junk is at Martin & MacArthur in this upscale mall.)
