Walking Distances In Las Vegas
Hello:
We are flying to Las Vegas in October and will be staying at Hampton Inn Tropicana ( off strip and non gaming) . Has anyone stayed here and walked over to the main strip?? It looks like there is a main causeway (#15) to cross . Are we going to find this too much distance and a hazard to walk ?? Also, was the Hampton Inn clean and comfortable?? Thanks to anyone who can help.

I've stayed at the Hampton Inn of which you speak. It was clean, comfortable and a too-long walk from the Strip.
The big casinos occupy large grounds, and, as a result, it can be a 15 minute walk from one casino to another even though they appear on a map to be next door to each other.
We go to Vegas about once a year, and we don't gamble. However, we now always stay mid-Strip because that is the fun place to be. It is worth the extra money to stay in a hotel in the vicinity of Bally's and the Mirage. Hotel rates are most reasonable Sunday through Thursday--they soar on weekends.

We stayed at a motel on the highway on our last night in Vegas -- BIG mistake. Part of the problem was the motel itself, but the walk to the strip was loooong and a little sketchy after dark. And I am not easily sketched out!

Thank you for the input on the Hampton Inn Tropicana. Looks like we'll rent a car to drive over to one of the big Casino Hotels . We're not into gambling
but, want to look thro' the beautiful
hotels ! Thanks again, Ilonka

If you are committed to staying at the Hampton...and if this is your first trip, try and change that to the real strip. Anyways..use a cab to get around. Renting a car is not the way to go for lots of reasons.
