I am planning a trip to the Wyoming, Utah, Arizon area in the spring.We would like to visit Nat parks and Western US history museums and places of interest. Any suggestions?

Since all of the threads get put into the general US board, you might want to repost with a more descriptive title to make sure that more people who know about the area you are interested in will click on your post and answer your question.

Well there are a bunch of National Parks, Historical sites...oh and a giant hole in the ground on the South end plus a really cool big rock protruding up from the middle of nowhere on the northern end of that trip.

Try a search and perhaps you will have more specific questions.

The Wyoming/Utah/Arizona area covers a lot of ground. How many weeks are you plannng to spend covering this vast area?

Ease up there guys. Please don't scare off a newbie as they are learning the ropes here on the message board.

To get started I suggest you look at "Destinations" on both fodors and frommers websites and also check out tripadvisor.com. As you read about attractions that interest you, repost with specific sites and questions in your subject title and you will get the best advice possible.

I think that you'll find that most fodorites believe in REALLY discovering/exploring/seeing one area well rather than making a quick stop in a variety of locations in a limited amount of time. Arizona- flying into Phoenix, heading up to Sedona and the Grand Canyontop then back to Scottsdale for some serious R&R would probably take a minimum of a week and that is doing it quickly. Thats not even mentioning heading south to Tuscon, Tombstone, Benson area for a whole different perspective.

IMHO, the must sees would be Yellowstone and Grand Tetons in Wyoming. You will want to visit Buffalo Bill Cody Historic Center in Cody, WY.

Utah has 5 national parks and all are worth seeing. Utah also has some really good national monuments and scenic drives. It would really help to know how long of a trip you had.

Lake Powell and Monument Valley are both on the Utah/Arizona borders.

The Grand Canyon in Arizona. Canyon de Chelly National Monument is also a great place.

I don't know how much time you have for this trip, but if you are going to cover this much area, then I hope it's between 3 and 4 weeks.

You also don't mention when in spring this trip will take place. My biggest suggestion would be to start your trip in Arizona and end in Wyoming. The roads in Yellowstone will be closed until late April and some don't open until May.

I was not trying to be rude or scare anyone away. I have a tendency to attempt to try and get my message across with a dose of humor.

So I will provide more info: The big cool protruding rock was featured in a 1977 movie starring Richard Dryfuss and Teri Garr. The big hole in the ground was featured as the number 1 natural attraction in the West on the Travel Channel just last night.

It is reasonable to expect a certain amount of homework. ;-)
