And let me add this about AI...recommending a wonderful learning week sponsored by Road Scholar which we did some years ago. We were housed at the Athletic Club across Michigan Ave. and each day visited a different gallery with guides in the Art Institute. Also did some interesting things in the Loop area...concert, theater, architectural tour, shopping, etc. Program now housed at the Palmer House.

Currently on Amtrak, about 45 minutes out. Beautiful weather. This is a return visit to AI so it won't require the whole day.

Crowds for Blues Fest and normal busy Saturday visitors will determine the outcome. I'm sure we will enjoy whatever the day presents!

I thought I would follow up with a report of what we ended up doing. We had gorgeous weather so we walked all day. No taxi, no bus, no water taxi.

We stopped first at the Art Institute. No line for tickets so getting in was very quick. We spent about 2.5 hours there. We then walked down to Purple Pig to see about lunch. Stefano did not care to wait 40 minutes for a table, so it was off to NoMi (outside garden), where we were seated in 5 minutes. We really liked this place a lot. The sushi was lovely, and relaxing in the nice weather was just what we needed!

We had time for a bit of looking on Michigan Avenue. I think Mrs Stefano would love a day of shopping here, but not today. One more stop before heading back to the train station. We went to the observation deck at the John Hancock building. We did not do the tilt :) The view was gorgeous. It was a beautiful clear day for it. We had no line ahead of us to get tickets at 4pm and had maybe a 10 minute wait for the elevator, so not bad at all.

We then strolled back to Union Station and arrived just minutes before it was time to board the train for home.

All in all, a super nice Chicago visit. Stefano commented that he thinks more Europeans should see Chicago instead of NYC.
