WWhat to do between Greenwich, CT and Northampton, MA?

We'll be driving that route this summer (June), and we would like to stop and see interesting things in the towns along the way. We are tentatively planning a stop in Hartford to swing through Mark Twain's house. Other suggestions? Interesting small town downtowns? Some of us are vegetarian -- are there any good vegetarian-friendly places to eat in central CT?

There is a very good vegetarian restaurant in New Haven called Claires. THe Yale campus is also worth a visit.

Caffiene's in downtown Springfield is a great vegetarian restaurant, even though you were looking for somewhere in central CT

There is a wonderful veg. restaurant in Middletown, CT. with jazz on weekends. It's called It's Only Natural.

Lots of great concert venues on your route and June is a good time of year to catch a show. Try Toad's Place in New Haven; Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT; Webster Theatre, Black-Eyed Sally's and Meadows Music Center in Hartford and the Iron horse in Northampton. Mark Twain's House and the Wadsworth Athenium are excellent stops as well.

There are lots of restaurants in New Haven, CT that serve veggies, but not exclusively - Bangkok gardens is my favorite - they have everything. Its a 1/2 block from the Yale art museum & the british art gallery - both worth a visit. Interesting downtown besides New Haven: Litchfield

If you like sushi, go to Toshi's in Farmington and stop at Lake Compounce on the way. Many above suggestions are good. New Haven has some of the best reataurants around where you can get vegetarian fare, although not exclusively. Roombas, Cafe Adulis, Sally's Pizza (clam pizza is the best in the world) are some favorites in New Haven. Great bar scene if you're into that too (not sure if this is family trip or not). If you take route 8 from Greenwich....you can check out lots of small town downtowns along the way
