An international or national driver's license bearing a photograph is acceptable in Estonia. Drive on the right. Most roads are not up to Western standards, but major thoroughfares tend to be in better condition than secondary roads, where potholes and unpaved ways are common. Gas costs about €1.40 per liter. Note that Tallinn is a pedestrian city and driving can be impractical as parking is generally scarce and expensive.

Cars may be rented from Avis, Budget, Hertz, or National, or other local agencies, with prices starting at €25 a day.
